You can’t expect many new business startups for a long while. Many of the people you might have relied on before to start new businesses are in tough financial shape, not in a position to start a business the way we’ve always done things.
You might be reaching out to more diverse potential entrepreneurs in your community to start businesses. Many People of Color, people with disabilities, and working class people face higher barriers to starting a business: fewer financial and business resources, more severely impacted by job loss and discrimination. Also not in a position to start a business the way we’ve always done things.
No one is going to save us:
- Emergency grants and loans are focused on propping up those already in business.
- Governments and nonprofit organizations are overwhelmed and budget-crunched. Don't expect them to fund new business support activities.
